Having unprotected sex (without a condom) with a partner means that you run a risk of picking up an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection)
STI’s include gonorrhoea, chlamydia, herpes and genital warts. All of these can be passed on to your partner through vaginal, anal and oral sex.
STI’s are passed on between partners when they have sex. You may be unaware that the person you have sex with has an STI as there are often no signs that you can see. This also means that you can get an STI without even knowing it as no-one is immune..
