Sexually Transmitted Infections
Having unprotected sex (without a condom) with a partner means that you run a risk of picking up an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection)
STI’s include gonorrhoea, chlamydia, herpes and genital warts. All of these can be passed on to your partner through vaginal, anal and oral sex.
STI’s are passed on between partners when they have sex. You may be unaware that the person you have sex with has an STI as there are often no signs that you can see. This also means that you can get an STI without even knowing it as no-one is immune.
Warning Signs to Look Out For:
If you have any of these signs, you can talk to someone at the GuM (Genitourinary medicine) service at Conifer House (01482 336336) or at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham (01482 623287) or Bridlington Hospital (01262 423020)
If you think you may have an STI it’s important that you seek help immediately. Make sure that you don’t risk passing the virus on to anyone else.
ALWAYS PROTECT YOURSELF BY USING A CONDOM
