A small group of Health and Social Care colleagues in Hull recently created a website which offers information on the issue of personal and sexual relationships for people in care situations, particularly when there are questions around a person's mental capacity.
They put together the resource because they had come across a lot of care staff and managers with questions and concerns and worries and often these staff were struggling to find any clear information or advice. There were particular worries when there was a question mark over a person's ability to decide what was best for him or herself. The resource is not intended as the final word on personal and sexual relationships for people who find themselves in the social care or health care system, but it should help staff and others to be a little better informed and more confident in the way that they support people.
The group are keen to learn from people's experience and to use examples of good practice to improve the website.
