HIV Support Groups

Body Positive Hull and East Riding

An information and peer support service, for anyone living with and affected by HIV within the boroughs of Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire.

The organisation has been established and governed by local people living with HIV. The central aspect of the services they provide is that of relieving the effects of social isolation and emotional distress for those living and affected by HIV.

Body Positive Hull and East Riding have developed purposeful relationships with Cornerhouse (Yorkshire), Hull and East Riding Sexual Health Partnership, the Hull and East Riding HIV Prevention Officer, and Local Authority Specialist Social Workers.

In order to safeguard the confidentiality of HIV status and personal safety of those attending the support groups, Body Positive do not advertise specific details in regards to venue locations, times and dates of their support groups.

There are a wide range of services offered by the organisation, which include but are not exhaustive to:

The support groups are run on a monthly basis and provide the opportunity for people to develop social and peer support networks, share life experiences in relation to their condition and promote self-empowerment.
