Clinical and Non-Clinical Training and Development in Sexual Health and Contraception
The service provides or arranges clinical and non-clinical training for all grades of staff in the public and voluntary sector enganged in providing sexual health care to people of all ages and sexual orientation.
Non clinical training facilitated by Jem Sutherland covers a range of subjects related to sexuality and sexual health, including working with young people, confidentiality and the law in relation to sexual activity.
Clinical training leads are Dr Marian Everett (Family Planning), Dr Usha Kuchimanchi (Genitourinary Medicine) and Carol Totterdell (Nursing). Clinical training includes courses accrediated by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care, British Association for Sexual Health and HIV, and the Royal College of Nursing as well as in-house sessions covering a range of topics from pregnancy testing to Sexual Health Patient Group Directions. We also provide placements for medical and nursing students as well as qualified clinical staff undergoing post registration training and education.
