Advice & Guidance - Infections & Testing

If you do not have any symptoms please complete the online sexual health checkup form by clicking here. Once complete please bring this with you to the clinic.
For a check up, if you have had no symptoms wait 2 weeks after unprotected sex, then attend a Sexual Health clinic (it can take up to 2 weeks for some of the tests to be accurate). If symptoms develop in the meantime attend as soon as possible.

If you have symptoms you should attend a GUM clinic as soon as possible. If you want an HIV test because you are concerned about a risk due to having sex less than 72 hours ago attend GUM immediately.

If you want an HIV test for ‘peace of mind’ or to check out risks you have taken in the past, attend GUM. Remember that it can take up to 3 months after contact with HIV before a test result is accurate, but if you are concerned you can attend before then to discuss your individual circumstances.
